NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER

Grade 3/4 The class took up the homework from last week and described what they may have to eat at different meals. Following this, they learned to say j'aime and je n'aime pas...different sports. They are reading the simple sentences and writing them as well. Great work!

Grade 7 had their presentations of a comic strip and story ending. For a first tâche finale, they did well. The class re-wrote sentences that needed to be un-scrambled. The double verb construction with aimer+verb with the negative can be tricky to put together.

Grade 8 students worked on their web page and peer edited. They also reviewed the rubric to make sure that they had all the elements required. This is due on Wednesday, October 7.

Grade 5/6 were super charged today. They completed the comprehension segment of a reading from last week and everyone was doing an excellent job!
They finished with a quick game of vrai ou faux and I must say that they were great at detecting details that were false.

Grade 1/2 Today, we talked about the process of fruit trees (mostly apple trees) growing in the orchards. Maddy proposed that they break up in small groups and each make a short skit with drawings, homemade props and used the vocabulary
such as: graines, racines, tronc, arbre, branches, fleurs, pommes, poires, pèches, cerises.

Grade JK/SK hosted their lesson with the grades 1/2. We read La petite poule rousse and talked about sharing the work to share in the bounty. They also sang Alouette and we used our friendly turkey body parts for vocabulary.
At last, they had a competition with counting 1 to 35, JK/SK against Gr.1/2 and the results were really close.
