NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER

Grade 3/4 Today was International Mindedness Day and the students asked how to name and talk about La religion Juive.  They were especially iinterested in Channukah/Hannukah and the minorah. A few remembered me bringing one at school and lighting it with them. We will resume Le Moyen Âge on Friday.

Grade 7 took up the verb devoir without difficulty. They have read and researched their vocabulary and recorded them in their notebook. Homework for Friday is to fill in the blanks of the story with the appropriate verb, vouloir, devoir or pouvoir.

Grade 8 completed an activity on the reading selection Les Grands Monstres. They did this really quickly so we had a good discussion about what scares us in movies and why. This is in preparation for their advertising project where they will have to take into consideration the message and the target audience of a film of their choice. More to come soon.
Homework: identify the character (montre) for each movie description.

Grade 5/6 The students put the final touches to the presentation on Islam. I was impressed by how much they had practiced and their pronunciation. We had a short discussion about tolerance and acceptance. These students are very open-minded.
They jumped started their project on social animals and how they compare with humans. Friday will be the writing of the rough copy and editing. Until Friday, they have to research information for their selected animal.

Grade JK/SK/1/2 were combined this afternoon because of the presentations. So it was a mix and match of skills and competition. They also requested to have another guided meditation (I guess the grade 1/2 put them up to this one). It was great to have all of them together as a group.
